Lieutenant General Munir Afsar, the chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), has been reinstated by the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The two-member bench of the LHC, consisting of Justices Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal and Ahmad Nadeem Arshad, heard the intra-court appeal filed by the federal government. The bench suspended the high court’s September 6 ruling, which had declared Lt Gen Afsar’s appointment null and void.
Justice Asim Hafeez made the announcement following a citizen named Ashba Kamran’s petition, which the LHC granted, contesting Afsar’s nomination as chairman.
