The presidential candidate stated at Tuesday’s debate with Kamala Harris: “In Springfield, they’re devouring the dogs, the people who came in, and the cats.
“I believe it’s appropriate to accept the mayor’s and city manager’s word that there is no reliable proof of the rumor of Haitians consuming cats,” Mr. DeWine stated.
“We should really concentrate on what’s important in Springfield, and that is exactly what we have done.
“Leave a community where there are currently 15,000 more visitors, which is really exceptional.
During the discussion, Mr. Trump faced criticism for his statements, as the moderator emphasized that there were no reliable reports of similar instances from local officials.
As it was her turn, Ms. Harris said, “Talk about extreme,” while grinning and remarking, “This is unbelievable.”
