The hearing of a petition to stop Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from being detained and tried in a military court has been postponed by Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The new date of the hearing is September 24.
A clear position on whether the former prime minister will be subject to a military trial was also mandated by the court to the government.
Justice Aurangzeb questioned the government’s procedure during the hearings on the transfer of civilians to military captivity. Statements are coming from senior officials; they are taken seriously. “If someone’s military detention is planned, what is the procedure?”
