According to reports, Indian politician Raj Thackeray has cautioned against the distribution of Pakistan’s popular film The Legend of Maula Jatt in Maharashtra. The Punjab region is supposed to release it on October 2.
The action thriller, stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, marks the first Pakistani release in India in more than a decade since Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol. However, rumour had it that the movie will only play in Mumbai.
The TLMJ is currently the highest-grossing Punjabi and Pakistani film, having already experienced enormous success both domestically and abroad. A strong rivalry exists between the characters Maula Jatt and Noori Natt, played by Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi, respectively, in this contemporary version of the 1979 classic.
