Prague will outlaw planned pub crawls at night.

Prague is to outlaw travel firms' nighttime bar crawls in an effort to draw in more "fine" tourists and discourage boisterous ones.

Authorities in the Czech capital have announced that organized bar crawls, which are frequently targeted at international stag and hen parties, will not be permitted from 22:00 to 6:00 local time (21:00 to 5:00 BST).

Jiri Pospisil, the deputy mayor, stated that “refinement and respect for shared public space are a priority” in his ideal city.

Prague is not alone in its efforts to discourage unruly visitors, many of whom are from the United Kingdom. Amsterdam started an initiative last year to deter young British males from coming to the Dutch city to engage in heavy drinking and drug use.

According to the Prague City Council, an amendment has been agreed upon by council members.

The adjustment was done for reasons of hygiene, safety, and noise. Council members stated that crowds of inebriated tourists also harm the city’s image.

The decision was applauded by officials in the central Prague One district, which is home to several pubs and is largely a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Prague’s Terezie Radomerska, one mayor, described the change as “welcome” and said it would “reduce the negative effects caused by excessive noise in the streets.”
