Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, introduced the Establishment of Special Courts Bill. He claimed that Pakistanis living abroad will be able to lodge their grievances online, and that the special tribunals would make a decision in the cases within ninety days.
A number of House members expressed their approval of the bill, pointing out that Pakistanis living abroad had long demanded it.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui praised the bill and called Pakistanis living abroad a valuable resource. According to him, the amount of money sent home by Pakistanis living abroad has reached an all-time high of $3 billion per month.
Cases pertaining to property must be resolved in 90 days.
The Deposit Protection Corporation Amendment Bill, proposed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, was also approved by the Senate.
