The white Volkswagen Scirocco struck the barricades at the gate of Chequers, the Buckinghamshire manor house that prime ministers are permitted to visit while in office, on Tuesday just after lunchtime.
The sole person in the car was the 44-year-old driver from the county who was detained by Thames Valley Police on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and causing criminal damage.
Additionally, a spokesman added that he was sent to the hospital “where he remains” after having “suffered serious injuries.”.
They further stated: “While we are still in the very early stages of our investigation, there is currently no evidence to suggest there was any intention to harm anyone.”
Additionally, the force asked anyone with information to call them at 101.
