A ceasefire and the reopening of the Torkham trade route for all forms of movement were agreed upon by Pakistan and Afghanistan on Monday.
A Pak-Afghan jirga to address border tensions at the Khyber-Torkham crossing was where the breakthrough occurred.
Both sides decided to suspend hostilities and resume trade and travel at the vital border crossing, Jawad Hussain, a participant of the Pakistani jirga, told News.
The contentious building by Afghan soldiers was temporarily suspended by the joint jirga as part of the accord. The Afghan delegation has asked for until this evening to discuss the issue with their officials.
Hussain stated that the matter will be postponed until the following meeting and that the Afghan jirga would update their officials on stopping the building.
