Following the attack in Clapham on Wednesday, the family, three responding police officers, and two more people who attempted to assist were all transported to the hospital.
A witness told the BBC that while he attempted to assist, the mother sobbed, “I can’t see, I can’t see.” “It was pretty terrifying,” he continued.
The culprit is being looked for by the police.
Emergency services were dispatched to Lessar Avenue, close to Clapham Common, at 19:25 GMT on Wednesday night, according to the Metropolitan Police, following complaints of an attack involving a suspected “corrosive substance”.
The force stated that tests were being conducted to identify the drug in question.
A white automobile was forced onto a lorry and pulled off the street as the sun rose over Clapham Common.
The car had stopped diagonally across the street lined with trees earlier in the evening, and police forensic teams wearing protective gear had investigated it.
A Lessar Avenue couple reported they heard a car smash and then a call for help, and they fled into the street.
“We came outside and saw this guy and he took a girl out of the car and he slammed her to the ground twice,” claimed an unidentified man.
“I followed him halfway down the street, but I didn’t go too far because I was wearing slippers.
