Today, a family attacked a couple who had come to register their love marriage, resulting in a tumultuous scene outside a Depalpur courthouse.
Police said the confrontation started when the girl’s family tried to remove her.
The courthouse grounds were turned into a battlefield when a brawl broke out between the families. In self-defense, the husband—who was named Aazan—fired rounds into the air. After a prompt response, police retrieved the weapon and arrested Aazan.
Both sides are seen fighting violently in footage that News was able to secure. According to police accounts, a few days before, the girl’s family had accused Aazan of kidnapping her.
Rashid Hayat, DPO Okara, said, “No one is allowed to take the law into their own hands,” in response to the violence.
