This morning, there was a fire at the Nauman Shopping Center in the Saddar neighborhood of Karachi. KMC employees are alleged to have demanded bribes from Empress Market store owners in the same vicinity. The shopkeepers protested when the officials initiated an operation against encroachments because the shopkeepers wouldn’t pay.
Information reveals that the Nauman Shopping Center fire is still out of control. The fire has been blazing for three hours, and rescue crews are currently trying to put it out.
However, store owners in Saddar’s Empress Market have referred to the KMC’s anti-encroachment campaign as retaliatory.
Shopkeepers allege that after they refused to accept bribes, KMC employees utilized devious methods in the guise of encroachments.
