KARACHI: On Wednesday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised the Sindh Prosecution Roadmap 2025–2030 as a ground-breaking study that found weaknesses and obstacles in the criminal justice system in relation to the rights of minorities, the transgender community, and human trafficking.
Speaking at the project’s launch ceremony held at a nearby hotel, the chief minister said, “The launch of [the] five-year project marks a significant step forward in advancing ongoing rule of law reforms to the next level and let us continue to work together and leverage our collective expertise to implement the Sindh Prosecution Roadmap and deliver a fair and equitable justice system to serve the people of Sindh and Pakistan.”
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Sindh Criminal Prosecution Services Department worked together to organize the event.
According to the chief minister, the prosecution roadmap represents the government’s commitment to a fair and transparent legal system in Sindh.
He praised the UNODC for its unwavering assistance and technical direction in creating an inclusive and citizen-centered road map that will improve the province’s prosecution system’s performance over the following five years.
The Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), he claimed, was out of date because it was first published in 1898 and did not take into account the advances in investigative methods and technology.
