During their spring break, a group of 27 Harvard affiliates traveled to Pakistan to experience the country’s unique culture and engage with the South Asian nation.
According to The Harvard Crimson, the Harvard affiliates attended athletic events and spoke with key current and former government figures on their week-long “Pakistan Trek”.
The trip, organized jointly by the Harvard College Pakistani Students Association and the Harvard Kennedy School Pakistan Caucus, provided travelers with a “unique experience” to “come together to explore Pakistan’s vibrant culture and develop a connection with the South Asian nation,” according to the group’s Instagram post.
The trip’s co-organiser, Hamaad W Mehal, stated that the goal was to give Harvard affiliates the opportunity to interact directly with Pakistanis.
“In my perspective, Pakistanis are the warmest, most welcoming, and most hospitable people out there. They’ve been unfairly misrepresented, and I believe the purpose of this journey was to demonstrate that this is a people with a great culture and history,” Mehal added.
