In response to recent accusations against King Charles and his older son Prince William, the anti-monarchy group Republic has called for the government to destroy the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster.
Protesters have demanded that the government disband the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster and place direct governmental ownership over their wealth and assets.
The call follows a Dispatches, Sunday Times, and Mirror investigation uncovering the enormous profits gained at the expense of public services and charities, as well as the startling quality of rental houses in the Duchy of Cornwall, the Republic said in a statement.
According to the statement, “the Duchies are Crown assets belonging to the state, not the private property of Charles and William as the royals imply.”
