On Friday, October 11, six persons plunged into the water on a section of the river at Sunbury Lock in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, leaving the Weybridge Rowing Club member the only one missing.
According to Surrey Police, a man’s body was found on Sunday by specialized search teams close to Sunbury Weir.
He has not yet been formally identified, and his death is not being considered suspicious.
However, according to the authorities, the missing man’s family has been notified and is receiving assistance from a professional officer.
“We have been in close contact with the man’s family throughout this tragic incident to offer them support and information during this extremely difficult time,” stated Andy Jenkins, North Surrey’s Chief Inspector.
We ask that their privacy be respected while they process their loss, and our thoughts are with them.
The circumstances behind the man’s death are being investigated.
