A general and two other members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards perished in a helicopter crash while carrying out an anti-terror mission in the southeast of the nation.
According to state media, the incident happened during a combat mission in a border region involving an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) “ultra-light gyroplane.”
Pilot Hamed Jandaghi and General Hamid Mazandarani, commander of the Nineveh Brigade of Golestan province, were named as the fatalities in the crash, which happened in Sirkan, Sistan-Baluchistan province.
Since October 26, when ten police officers were killed in an attack by Sunni Muslim extremists, Iran’s military has been conducting aggressive operations in the area.
Iranian forces are said to have detained some extremists and killed others during this operation.
