In a community in southern England, a huge sinkhole has formed, engulfing at least one lawn and requiring authorities to evacuate some thirty homes.
Local authorities have classified the sinkhole’s development in the Surrey town of Godstone, which began on Monday and reached a depth of at least 20 meters on Tuesday, as a significant incident.
The evacuated properties were constructed on the site of a former sand quarry almost three years ago, according to the news. Noosh Miri, a local, stated that her family was among those that were evacuated.
Miri reported, “There was a loud knock on the door.” The sinkhole was directly in front of my door, so when I opened it, it sounded like I was in a waterfall.
