Prosecutor Nicole Blumberg stated during a hearing in Manhattan’s New York State Criminal Court on Tuesday that they will pursue a new indictment and that the extra assaults that were allegedly carried out in Manhattan were still within the statute of limitations to be prosecuted as crimes.
The state’s highest court reversed the 72-year-old film producer’s historic 2020 New York conviction, which resulted in a 23-year prison sentence and ignited the global #MeToo movement, in April.
There has not yet been word on a retrial.
It was decided that the judge’s “egregious” inappropriate rulings, such as allowing women to speak regarding allegations, had affected the initial hearing.
