Residents were put into a panicked situation when a large fire broke out in the upper area of the Pakistan Works Department (PWD) grocery store on Friday morning.
Initial reports from Rescue Officials 1122 state that the fire started at 11 a.m. and spread swiftly, ensnaring an undetermined number of people within the structure.
Witnesses reported seeing dense smoke rising from the top stories and chaotic scenes as people scrambled to flee the flames.
Rescue crews are presently exerting great effort to free people who are stuck inside the supermarket.
Witnesses stated that the lift in the building has been successfully used by rescuers to help with the evacuation operations.
