Rodric Williams, one of the Post Office’s heads of legal, rejected the complaint and informed the Post Office Horizon Inquiry on Thursday that employees had a “bunker mentality” over the media’s coverage of the IT system.
Hundreds of sub-postmasters who oversaw branches were found guilty of theft and false accounting, and the investigation is gathering testimony to determine who in the government and the Post Office knew what, when, and how about the accounting computer program that fraudulently caused financial losses at Post Office branches throughout the UK.
Many additional sub-postmasters suffered from severe debt, had their reputations destroyed, and were forced to move out of their communities and lose their houses as a result of Horizon’s mistakes.
