On November 12, 1966, Paul Snider, Karen’s husband, arrived home late and discovered her body. The couple lived in Calumet City, Illinois.
James Barbier was charged with first-degree murder after being taken into custody at his Missouri residence on Monday.
According to News, the police revived the case in 2022 and sent materials from the scene, such as the victim’s clothes and blood-stained bedsheet, for testing.
Barbier was extradited to Illinois after his arrest because the blood matched his DNA.
The medical examiner estimated that Mrs. Snider was stabbed roughly 125 times while her 2-month-old daughter slept soundly in a crib.
