According to Fox News, a child from Maryland who was attacked by a shark on Monday while on a shark tank excursion at a resort in the Bahamas is fortunate to be alive.
A shark attacked the 10-year-old child on Paradise Island at approximately 4 p.m. EST while he was “participating in an expedition in a shark tank at a local resort,” according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force. The incident transformed the boy’s holiday into a nightmare.
Preliminary reports state that the young adventurer was bitten on his right leg during the dangerous attack. He was sent to the hospital, where his condition is currently stable.
The Maryland boy’s identity has not been released by the authorities, who also stated that the incident’s circumstances are being looked into.
Only one month has passed since a Massachusetts lady lost her life while on vacation in the Bahamas due to a shark attack that happened 10 years ago.
The previous time Lauren Erickson Van Wart, 44, was paddleboarding with a relative less than a mile off the western end of New Providence Island when she was bitten by a shark, resulting in significant injuries.
Gavin Naylor, the head of the International Shark Attack File program in Florida, estimates that there are thirty to forty different shark species in the Bahamas. The sharks that bite the most frequently are the black tip shark, tiger shark, bull shark, and Caribbean reef shark.
