LAHORE: Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb declared a health emergency in Lahore and Multan, calling the haze a national disaster that was having a negative impact on other regions of the state.
She said during a smog press conference that fog has combined with smog this season, creating health risks.
“The absence of fog during other times of the year often conceals the presence of smog,” she stated.
All departments have been assigned specific aims to battle the threat, the senior minister added, referring to the 10-year anti-smog strategy that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched in March.
