According to Lebanon’s health ministry, Israeli bombings since early on Monday have left 1,835 people injured and 558 dead, including 94 women and 50 children.
As concerns about escalation mount, Amin Salam, Lebanon’s minister of economy, stated that the nation is “in the eye of the storm” and that “war is happening”—with potentially disastrous results.
“We need to make a wise decision or drag Lebanon into further escalation and misery,” Mr. Salam said in an interview with Yalda Hakim on The World.
It is obvious that we will pay a very, very, very large price and that Lebanon will be forced into a very terrible situation from which it will take many, many years to recover if we, Hezbollah, or the entire nation decide to take a major risk and gamble more in this war.
