According to an appeal made by his family to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, Hamadur Rehman, a citizen traveling from Islamabad to Thailand for work, has been kidnapped.
The family has requested help from the ministry.
They said their son was being kept close to the border between Myanmar and Burma. According to the father of the kidnapped person, the suspects told the family to use Telegram to communicate.
Since the military overthrew a democratically elected government in 2021, huge protests in Myanmar have turned into a protracted armed conflict.
Myanmar, a country with a majority of Buddhists, has historically mistreated the Rohingya. Following a military-led operation in 2017 that the UN claimed was done with genocidal intent, over 730,000 of them left the nation.
