According to reports cited by Geo News on Monday, the Awami National Party (ANP) has presented a “unanimous” suggestion to the special parliamentary committee for consideration over the renaming of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as “Pakhtunkhwa”.
The ANP brought up the long-standing demand of the Pakhtun nationalist parties to rename KP “Pakhtunkhwa” during the critical in-camera meeting of the committee tasked with debating the controversial 26th constitutional amendment.
Members of the opposition and treasury benches make up the special committee, together with lawmakers from the PML-N, PPP, PTI, and other parties.
According to the sources, no political party opposed the plan throughout the session.
Aimal Wali Khan, the president of ANP KP, told journalists two days earlier that all political parties were in agreement.
