The technique uses a robotic arm, artificial intelligence, and 3D imagery to do dental procedures.
Perceptive, a company established in the United States, claims that its technology would make fillings and crowns more accurate and faster to complete.
Dr. Chris Ciriello, CEO and Founder, stated that “this medical breakthrough enhances the precision and efficiency of dental procedures.”
The company has acquired $30 million (£23.5 million) in finance and is backed by dentist Edward Zuckerberg, father of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Crown placements may be performed in as little as 15 minutes, according to the firm.
This is in comparison to the existing approach, which requires two hour-long visits to the dentist.
A 3D scan of a patient’s tooth and mouth is the first step in the process, which captures images beneath the gum line.
The robotic apparatus is still a work in progress, however.
