The US Embassy in Kathmandu rejected the 23-year-old’s initial application last week.
In December 2023, Lamichhane was convicted of raping an 18-year-old lady; however, that decision was recently overturned.
With a second application, the government of Nepal and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had tried to step in on the player’s behalf.
However, the US Embassy “has expressed its inability to give travel permission to national player Lamichhane” after “taking necessary initiatives,” according to a statement from CAN.
He was apparently going to be added to Nepal’s squad for the event, which would take place in the United States and the Caribbean, but he was initially left out of their 15-man roster.
In 2019, just before he was scheduled to play in the Caribbean Premier League, Lamichhane, the most well-known player and former captain of Nepal, had his application for a visa to the US denied.
On June 4, Nepal will play the Netherlands in their first T20 World Cup encounter in Dallas.
