According to the study, country music had the lowest level of negative feelings, and the largest spike in fury was found in rap songs.
Music “reflects more general changes in society and culture,” according to Eva Zangerle, an assistant professor in the computer science department at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. This could explain why terms relating to wrath have become increasingly popular.
Professor Zangerle and her associates examined 12,000 English-language song lyrics published between 1980 and 2020, in addition to the lyrics’ page views on digital platforms.
