Following an incident in January of last year in the Priestpopple neighborhood of Hexham, Northumberland, Holly Newton suffered 36 knife wounds.
Unknown due to his age, a 17-year-old teenager pleaded manslaughter but denied murder, saying he had only intended to terminate his own life that day and that his mind had gone blank.
While attempting to assist Holly at the scene, a 16-year-old guy who was with her was also stabbed.
The 17-year-old said he could not recall stabbing Holly or the kid who was found guilty of wounding with intent at Newcastle Crown Court.
After the incident, Holly was brought to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, but she was not able to recover.
The 16-year-old boy required surgery for injuries to his arm, leg, and shoulder after he was also brought to the hospital.
Holly’s mother had called the police that day regarding the defendant, whom her daughter knew, since she was so worried. Jurors were informed that it was decided Holly should not leave school if the young person was outdoors.
Before hitting Holly, he followed her about the town center for around forty-five minutes while she went shopping with friends.
