Kennedy, also known as RFK Jr., declared he was going to step back from his independent presidential campaign in order to assist the Republican nominee in a few states.
“I’m going to remove my name, and I’ve started the process, in about ten battleground states where my presence would be a spoiler,” Mr. Kennedy declared at a press conference in Arizona.
The Democratic Party was no longer “champions of the constitution,” according to RFK Jr., whose father Robert F. Kennedy was slain in 1968 as he was running for president. He claimed the party had “dramatically” strayed from the “core.
Mr. Kennedy, 70, stated that he will attempt to have his name removed from the ballot in battleground states due to concerns about free speech, the war in Ukraine, and “a war on our children”.
He stated that these are the main reasons he decided to support President Trump and leave the Democratic Party in order to run as an independent.
