On Thursday, a 2.3-magnitude earthquake rocked portions of Karachi, including Gadap Town, Katohar, and the surrounding Malir district.
The seismic monitoring center said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 84 kilometers deep and 38 kilometers northeast of Malir.
The earthquake struck at 5:52 p.m. close to the Malir neighborhood, however no casualties or damage to property were reported.
This is the second minor earthquake to strike Karachi’s Malir district in almost eight days.
Karachi’s Malir district was rocked by an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 on April 24.
Pakistan is located on the border of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, hence natural disasters like earthquakes are frequent there.
