The French international was backed by current and former players Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez. He now alleges that the Premier League winners owe him £11.5 million in unpaid wages.
The club withheld the 30-year-old’s £500,000 monthly salary when he was charged in 2021, the tribunal was informed.
The World Cup champion was later exonerated.
Mr. Mendy, who is currently a member of the French Ligue 2 team Lorient, filed a claim for “unauthorised deductions” from his earnings against Manchester City at an employment tribunal.
According to his contract, he would also get a bonus of £900,000 for showing up in 60%.
According to court records provided to the Manchester employment tribunal, Mr. Mendy “ran out of money very quickly.”
In his videolink appearance, Mr. Mendy informed the tribunal that Omar Berrada, the former chief football operational officer of Manchester City, had promised him and his agent that he would get his outstanding salary when he was exonerated of the allegations.
