Almost sixty years after his duty ended, a Vietnam War veteran recently reconnected with a priceless memento from his time in the military.
Larry Morganti, a native of Florence, South Carolina, received his dog tag—a form of identification for military personnel—last month. A rocket attack caused him to lose the metal tag.
The veteran, according to the news, flew as a crew chief on a C-123 freight jet from October 1967 to October 1968 while serving in the Air Force’s 311th Squadron.
According to Morganti, Kristoffer Hansen, a Swedish construction worker, wound up with the dog tag, as WPDE reported. Hansen reported to the Post and Courier that he discovered the piece using a metal detector and that his friend, who resides in Vietnam, sent it to him.
