Hours after a US military plane took off to bring back deported migrants to the US, a White House official said that US President Donald Trump has asked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the White House next week.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a US official stated that the C-17 plane carrying the migrants had left for India but would not get there for at least a day.
On January 27, Trump spoke with Modi about immigration and emphasized the need for India to purchase more security equipment made in the United States and to have equitable bilateral trade relations.
India is eager to strengthen trade ties with the US and provide access for its citizens as a strategic ally in the US’s fight against China.
