Elizabeth Wolf allegedly attempted to drown the child in a swimming pool after a fight with her Palestinian mother, according to a witness who described her as “very intoxicated,” according to police.
The 42-year-old was originally detained in May for public intoxication at a pool in an apartment complex in Euless, Texas.
She is currently facing charges of attempted murder and child injury following a police investigation.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas), a civil rights organization, said that Wolf “interrogated” the mother of the kid in Texas.
According to CAIR-Texas, the mother was conversing with her kids while donning a headscarf.
Wolf allegedly attempted to take her six-year-old boy after questioning her, according to the police. He managed to get away, but his finger was sliced.
Wolf allegedly seized the woman’s three-year-old daughter and forced her underwater while she assisted her son.
According to CAIR-Texas, the mother was able to take her daughter to safety before emergency personnel could arrive thanks to the assistance of a bystander.
Authorities have been urged to look into the incident as a potential hate crime.
