At Congresswoman Majorie Taylor Greene’s residence, a driver was killed in a traffic accident Monday while a police officer responded to a bomb warning, according to authorities.
In a statement, Greene, a Republican who serves in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, stated that the bomb threat was submitted by email to her local police station in Rome, which is located roughly 60 miles northwest of Atlanta. Threats against lawmakers have increased in recent years, prompting law enforcement agencies throughout to take action.
According to a statement from the Rome Police Department, a Rome officer who is a part of the Floyd County Bomb Squad was involved in a traffic accident on the way to the location where Rome police had dispatched the multiagency squad to react to Greene’s home.
