A young woman’s final, heartfelt letter to the world, posted on social media after she passed away from an uncommon kind of cancer, is becoming viral posthumously.
Daniella Thackray posted on Facebook, saying, “If you’re reading this, then it means I have died from my battle with cancer.” Her family posted the statement on her behalf.
Let me begin by stating unequivocally that lifestyle choices do not cause cancer in all cases. Sometimes it’s inherited, and regrettably, sometimes it just happens. In my situation, a malignancy in my bile ducts began despite my being in excellent health and an active lifestyle; this was beyond my control, and my life was never the same.”
A bile duct cancer called cholangiocarcinoma usually affects adults over 50. However, as the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota states on its “Diseases & Conditions” webpage, it can also happen at any age.
Patients are frequently diagnosed with advanced cancer, which makes treatment “difficult to achieve,” the organization claims.
