After her lawyer claimed the council did not support Karen Maguire throughout the placement and did not give her adequate background information about the child, Maguire was awarded a six-figure settlement from South Lanarkshire Council last year.
According to Ms. Maguire, who spoke with Scotland, the boy beat his head to hurt himself, hardly slept, and detested being held. It came to light later that she was unaware of his significant underlying medical issue.
The South Lanarkshire Council stated that it wanted to offer any potential adopting parents complete support.
Ms. Maguire stated that she was making her first public statement to draw attention to the dearth of assistance for it.
The adoption failed after only four months in 2013, but Ms. Maguire has been pushing for the council to acknowledge its part in the disaster for years.
“Eyes wide open,” Ms. Maguire told the news that the clearance procedure, which verifies that a potential parent can offer a secure and caring home, took six months. She had filed to adopt a kid as a single parent.
She claimed to have approached the procedure with “eyes wide open.”.
