On July 31, 2023, Isaac Calderon was charged with driving recklessly and inflicting serious injury. He is scheduled to appear in court in the United States on Monday over his possible extradition to the United Kingdom.
Elizabeth Donowho, a mental health nurse from Malvern, Worcestershire, broke many bones in the incident on the A4103 at Shucknall, Herefordshire, including her sternum, right hand, and both ankles. She was left unable to walk for six weeks.
Calderon, who was 22 at the time of the collision, needed medical attention for significant injuries, therefore he was not detained right away.
In November of last year, he took a commercial trip from the United Kingdom to Texas in anticipation of a hearing at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court.
In response, Ms. Donowho’s spokesperson, Radd Seiger, stated: “It has been about a year since Elizabeth was involved in the accident that almost ended her life.
“We are happy that the extradition procedure has begun and anticipate that Mr. Calderon will soon return to the UK to face our legal system. We are unaware of the reason behind the lengthy extradition process.
