According to reports, Justice Shah took time off because a close relative was ill.
The cases that were initially allocated to his bench—justices Ayesha Malik and Aqeel Abbasi, among others—were taken off the list due to his absence.
The cases were then moved to Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Ayesha Malik, who made up the two-member bench.
The two-member bench was supposed to hear cases in Courtroom No. 6, but they just sat down for a short while before leaving without taking a vote.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa chaired a meeting of the Practice and Procedure Committee on Tuesday, where Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was missing. Justice Aminuddin Khan and Chief Justice Isa were present during the meeting.
