The Civil Servants Act of 1973 will shortly include the federal government’s finalized obligatory retirement plan for public employees.
Sections 2(1) H and 11C of the Act have been amended by the judgment to permit mandatory retirement packages in situations including departmental dissolutions, mergers, and terminations of ministries.
Employees affected by these changes will get cash compensation through the package. The Committee on Cabinet Legislation has approved the idea.
Within seven days of receiving the package offer, impacted employees will be able to apply to a committee that the prime minister has constituted.
After then, the committee has 30 days to consider and make a decision on the request.
