ISLAMABAD: Through an amendment bill presented to the National Assembly, the government has suggested allowing the military forces, civil armed forces, and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to hold people for a maximum of three months.
On behalf of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar delivered the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2024 to the lower house of parliament on Friday, according to The News.
According to the bill, section 11EEE of the Anti-Terrorist Act of 1997 would be replaced by a newly revised section.
In accordance with the proposed bill’s replacement of section 11EEE, the government, military forces, or civil armed forces may impose three-month detention orders upon the receipt of reliable information or a reasonable suspicion against an individual.
