725 members participated in a YouGov poll conducted by the Party Members Project, which is affiliated with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Sussex University.
Thirteen percent of those questioned supported Ms. Badenoch after the “none” and “don’t know” responses were eliminated.
Professor Tim Bale of QMUL states: “Among the membership, Leave supporters are twice as likely to support Suella Braverman for the leadership (20 vs. 9) as Remain supporters. Leavers are also more inclined to endorse Badenoch, despite the fact that the difference in her case (33 vs. 28) isn’t as significant.
However, Tom Tugendhat has a much higher chance of being accepted by Remainers (18 vs. 11).
Working-class Conservatives are more supportive of Ms. Braverman than middle-class Conservatives are; the opposite is true for Ms. Badenoch and Mr. Tugendhat.
Former Liz Truss supporters are more inclined to support Ms. Badenoch and Ms. Braverman, while those who believed Rishi Sunak would be the finest leader in 2022 backed Mr. Tugendhat.Ms.
Suella Braverman came in second with 16% and Tom Tugendhat third with 15%.
There are reports that Ms Badenoch dressed down Rishi Sunak and his general election strategy in the first Conservative shadow cabinet meeting, and that support for Ms Braverman is dwindling among Tory MPs.
