The Analytical Assistance and Sanctions Monitoring Team reported to the UN Security Council that the Afghan Taliban are still giving Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) financial assistance and logistical and operational space, which has resulted in an increase in terrorist activities in Pakistan.
According to the team’s 35th report, the TTP’s power and standing in Afghanistan have not changed, but its attacks on Pakistan have escalated dramatically, with over 600 incidents—including cross-border attacks from Afghan territory—recorded in 2024. The Taliban provide 3 million Afghanis (about $43,000) a month to the outlawed group as part of their support.
By opening additional training facilities in the provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika (Barmal), TTP has increased the size of its training infrastructure.
