Marriyum Aurangzeb, the senior minister for Punjab, stated on Wednesday that the provincial government had started implementing smog-related policies in March, shortly after Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took office in February of this year.
The minister went on to say that preventing smog takes time.
Aurangzeb, a senior minister with several duties, including climate change and environmental protection, stated that the “smog prevention roadmap was given to all sectors.”
The minister discussed the actions Punjab is taking to reduce smog around the province in an interview for the Geo News show “Geo Pakistan.”
For the past few weeks, thick haze has engulfed sections of Punjab, especially Lahore, which continues to rank among the most polluted cities in the world.
