According to Microsoft’s Digital Defense report for this year, nations including North Korea, Iran, and Russia have begun experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI) and have altered their methods of operation in the past year.
The organization’s vice president of customer security and trust, Tom Burt, stated, “We need to figure out how to stop this malevolent cyber activity.”
“That includes continuing to harden our digital domains to protect our networks, data, and people at all levels.”
Particularly regarding its eavesdropping in cyberspace, Russia seems to have “outsourced” some of its cyber espionage to criminal gangs.
Microsoft claims that North Korea exploited a new ransomware technology dubbed FakePenny against aerospace and defense companies.
Iran allegedly “placed significant focus on Israel” and hacked dating sites in Israel. The nation’s cybercriminals allegedly then offered to pay to have certain people removed from their compromised databases.
