On Friday, Micheal Martin, Ireland’s deputy prime minister, reported that a surge of migrants had crossed the border from Northern Ireland into the Republic of Ireland due to fear of being sent back to Rwanda.
Mr. Sunak responded to a question regarding the remarks made in his interview, which will be broadcast in its entirety tomorrow at 8.30am on Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips, by claiming they demonstrated how “the deterrent is… already having an impact.”.
He stated, “People are afraid to come here, and it proves exactly what I’m saying. “People are far less inclined to enter our country illegally if they are aware that they cannot stay here, which is why the Rwanda program is so crucial.
