In accordance with the Supreme Court’s July 12 ruling in the reserved seats case, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday recognized 39 lawmakers as members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). These lawmakers had previously run as independent candidates in the February 8 elections but later joined the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
The ECP published a notification on its website designating 39 members of the National Assembly of Nigeria (NA) as members of the previous ruling party, based on their indication of PTI affiliation in their nomination papers for the national elections scheduled for February 8.
The decision to publish the notification of 39 legislators’ affiliation with the Imran-founded party was made during a crucial meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja today.Among the PTI MNAs who were informed were Asad Qaiser, Sher Afzal Khan, Latif Khan Khosa, Zartarj Gul, Shandana Gulzar Khan, Zain Hussain Qureshi, Malik Aamir Dogar, Ali Afzal Sahi, Ali Khan Jadoon, and others.
