According to The News on Monday, Sher Afzal Marwat, a member of the National Assembly (MNA), asserted that foreign social media influencers who support the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are largely motivated by financial gain.
Speaking on the chat show of a private news station on Sunday, Marwat criticized influencers like Imran Riaz Khan for encouraging others to join protests while staying away from them. He claimed that a large number of these influencers had now moved abroad and were making money by disseminating misleading information on social media.
Marwat claimed that in order to cause discord inside the party, these influencers had been spreading false information, such as claiming PTI founder Imran Khan was ill with an ear infection or was not receiving food while incarcerated.
